On 24 and 25 November 2011, Olivier De Schutter will convene an expert roundtable aiming to examine the impacts of agrofuels produced for transport on different components of the right to adequate food : food prices, rural development, access to land and incomes in rural areas where the production of agrofuels is expanding. The expert roundtable shall lead the Special Rapporteur to adopt conclusions on this issue that should contribute both to the debate on the renewable energies policies in various countries or regions, and to the search for an international consensus on this issue, in particular under the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP).
This expert roundtable is convened with the support of the Brussels regional office of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
